Nickel Based Welding Wire
Product Details
Product Information
ENiCrFe-2 is a high-performance welding rod electrode made from nichrome alloy, designed for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) applications. This electrode is typically used for welding nickel-chromium-iron alloys and is perfect for repairs and maintenance on materials that require high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. ENiCrFe-2 is especially suitable for welding Inconel 600, Inconel 625, and similar alloys that are exposed to extreme heat and chemical corrosion. Also known as:
Nickel-Chromium-Iron Alloy Electrode
AWS A5.11 ENiCrFe-2
UNS W86060 Electrode
Material Composition:
Nickel (Ni) 60–65%
Chromium (Cr) 20–24%
Iron (Fe) Balance
Manganese (Mn) 1.0% max
Silicon (Si) 1.0% max
Carbon (C) ≤ 0.1%
Phosphorus (P) 0.03% max
Sulfur (S) 0.02% max
Appearance / Color:
ENiCrFe-2 welding rods have a solid steel core with a light gray to black flux coating, designed to provide smooth welding with minimal spatter and to protect the weld pool from atmospheric contamination.
Core Wire Diameter:
2.5 mm, 3.2 mm, 4.0 mm, 5.0 mm (other sizes available upon request)
Flux Coating:
The flux coating provides a stable arc, easy slag removal, and minimizes spatter during the welding process. The coating also ensures low hydrogen output, which reduces the risk of cracking in the weld.
Packaging:
Electrodes are packed in 5.0 kg sealed boxes to maintain their quality during transport and storage.
Characteristics
High-Temperature Resistance: ENiCrFe-2 is designed to perform excellently in high-temperature environments, offering resistance to oxidation and scaling up to approximately 900°C.
Corrosion Resistance: It is highly resistant to corrosion, particularly in environments that are subjected to chemical corrosion, making it ideal for welding alloys used in chemical processing and marine applications.
Weldability: The electrode is easy to use with excellent arc stability, providing smooth, high-quality welds with minimal spatter.
Durability: Due to its composition, it provides strong, crack-resistant joints, even under conditions of thermal cycling and high-stress environments.
Technology
ENiCrFe-2 electrodes are manufactured using advanced processes to ensure that the alloy composition is consistent, with high purity materials that provide excellent weldability. The flux coating is engineered to provide superior arc stability, low spatter, and smooth slag removal. The nickel-chromium-iron composition ensures that the welding rod maintains high mechanical properties, even when exposed to extreme conditions.
The electrode is designed for welding high-performance alloys that are resistant to high temperatures, oxidation, and corrosion. It creates a strong bond between base materials like Inconel 600, Inconel 625, and Incoloy alloys, ensuring that the weld can withstand prolonged exposure to high temperatures and corrosive environments.
Theory
The ENiCrFe-2 electrode works on the basic principle of arc welding, where a strong electrical arc is created between the electrode and the workpiece. The flux coating shields the molten weld pool from the surrounding atmosphere, preventing oxidation and contamination, ensuring that the weld maintains its integrity under high heat and pressure.
The nickel-chromium-iron alloy core provides a strong bond with high-performance alloys, ensuring the weld can withstand high thermal cycles, mechanical stress, and chemical corrosion. The low hydrogen flux ensures minimal risk of hydrogen-induced cracking, which is crucial when welding high-carbon or high-stress alloys.
Application/Usage
High-Temperature Applications:
ENiCrFe-2 is ideal for welding high-temperature resistant alloys, including Inconel 600, Inconel 625, and Incoloy alloys. It is commonly used for heat exchangers, furnaces, and other equipment exposed to high temperatures.
Corrosive Environments:
This electrode is widely used in industries where components are exposed to corrosive environments, such as chemical processing plants, marine applications, and oil & gas facilities.
Maintenance and Repair:
ENiCrFe-2 is often employed for repairing high-temperature components, including parts of engines, turbines, heat exchangers, and other machinery exposed to thermal cycling and mechanical stress.
Nuclear Industry:
The electrode is also suitable for use in the nuclear industry, where materials are exposed to both high temperatures and radiation, requiring strong, corrosion-resistant welds.
